Abstract
Frida Kahlo is a famous Mexican painter. She was a wife of the famous muralist Diego Rivera, and known as the unique female idol for many "Fridamaniacs," the feministic revolutionist, the liberalistic communist. She has been a symbol of the conquest of all difficulties for many people. I summarize the major severe trials in her life: poliomyelitis in childhood, a car accident-induced serious physical trauma, marital life with Diego Rivera include-ing many sexual scandals. But these events are objective things, and I am interested in her subjective experiences including her inner conflicts and identity problems. By studying her life, I conclude that she had the narcissistic borderline trait, identity and sexual confusion, masculine protest, manipulative and provocative interpersonal skills, affect hunger and separation anxiety, some masochistic trait, pathologic object choice, etc. Certainly she was a cha-rismatic popular famed woman, but her artistic talent and social attitude seemed to be detached from psychological maturity in her life.
